Turning trash into treasure, one piece at a time

UPDATE: DIY Vegetable Garden

On March 19th, I blogged about a DIY Vegetable Garden that I started. It’s been 21 days (3 weeks) and we’re already seeing results!

Our green peppers are doing really well! In fact, in the last 24 hours, the pepper shown below (on the left) has tripled in size!

If you look at the image on the right, you’ll see a bunch of green peppers forming. ((Squeal)) This is so exciting!

Note: The specs you see all over the place, are pollen. Georgia is covered in it right now.

Today was a special day. We clipped (and ate) our first homegrown strawberry! It may not be the perfect shape but it had a perfect taste – so sweet and juicy.

I had a difficult time trying to get a photo of the strawberries that are growing (holding the camera with one hand and pushing the leaves back with the other). I did my best though. I want to show you these darling little delights. They’re growing bigger by the day – and will soon be in muh belly!

The spinach isn’t doing do great. Hubby and I talked and we decided to cut our losses. We’re going to harvest the good pieces and then plant other items in it’s place. I’m thinking blueberries, raspberries and tomatoes. Once we do that, i’ll post another update.

I can’t even begin to tell you just how joyful I feel. It’s a wonderful feeling to see the “fruits” of your labor (ha – see what I did there?).
